Brief description The visual design of this vibrant polychrome banknote beautifully pairs the monarchical heritage with the authentic local culture of The Bahamas. Issued as part of the 2001 Series, this fractional note showcases the refined craftsmanship typical of the British banknote printing school. The dimensions of the note are 156 x 67 mm.

Obverse: Features a front-facing bust of Queen Elizabeth II positioned at the center-right, elegantly wearing the Burmese Ruby Tiara. An outline map of the Bahamas Islands is placed in the center, complemented by a depiction of woven straw baskets on the left. The left side also integrates an ascending serial number, a security thread featuring the country's name, and a see-through feature of the bank's logo. The watermark area occupies the unprinted white space on the right. Inscriptions include the issuer “THE CENTRAL BANK OF THE BAHAMAS”, the denomination “FIFTY CENTS”, and the fractional value “$1/2”.

Reverse: Utilizing a green, yellow, and brown color palette, the reverse depicts “Sister Sarah in Nassau Market.” She is shown seated front-facing, surrounded by a rich bounty of local fruits and fish, while figures of people and boats create a bustling background scene. Bananas are illustrated at the lower left. The right side displays the official Coat of Arms of the Bahamas, which bears the national motto “FORWARD UPWARD ONWARD TOGETHER,” alongside the central bank's logo. The watermark panel is positioned on the left.

Security Features & Substrate: Printed on high-grade security paper by the renowned printer De La Rue in London. A key security element is the windowed security thread, which appears on the obverse surface in six distinct segments. Under backlight, the strip reveals a solid line repeating the text “BAHAMAS.” It also features a see-through register formed by the bank's emblem and a local watermark depicting a traditional sailing ship. This note carries the authorized signature of Julian W. Francis, the Governor of the Central Bank.

Topical Collecting Themes: Queen Elizabeth II on banknotes, monarchs and rulers wearing tiaras and regalia, maps and geographic outlines, genre scenes and marketplaces (Nassau Market, Sister Sarah), flora and fauna (bananas, tropical fruits, fish), maritime themes and vessels (boats, sailing ship watermark), heraldry and coats of arms, masterpieces by De La Rue.
