Brief description The design of this polymer 100 Ouguiya banknote showcases Mauritania's deep Islamic architectural heritage and traditional symbols of its economic and cultural identity. The note belongs to the New Ouguiya currency series.

Obverse: The primary visual element is the Grand Mosque of Oualata, an ancient fortified desert town (ksour) in southeastern Mauritania recognized for its unique earthen architecture. All inscriptions are in Arabic script. The top displays the issuing authority «البنك المركزي الموريتاني» (Central Bank of Mauritania), with the numeral «١٠٠» and the textual denomination «مائة أوقية» (One Hundred Ouguiya) placed across the layout.

Reverse: The reverse side incorporates several core national and religious icons: a crescent moon, a bull/cattle head (representing pastoral agriculture and livestock), and an open book featured within a clear security window. The inscriptions are written in Latin script, featuring the bank's French title «BANQUE CENTRALE DE MAURITANIE», the numerals «100», and the denomination «CENTS OUGUIYA». It also carries a legal warning against counterfeiting: «LES AUTEURS OU COMPLICES DE FALSIFICATION OU DE CONTREFAÇON DE BILLETS DE BANQUE SERONT PUNIS CONFORMEMENT AUX LOIS ET ACTES EN VIGUEUR».

Security Features: The note is printed on a polymer substrate and utilizes an integrated clear register window containing the open book design. It was produced by the German high-security printing firm Giesecke+Devrient in Leipzig.
