Brief description This 1000 Pesos banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Guinea-Bissau as part of the 1990–1993 series and was demonetized on July 31, 1997.

Main features: The banknote is made of paper and measures 148 by 63 mm.

Obverse design: Dark brown, brown-violet, and orange colors. It features Amílcar Lopes Cabral and a man weaving a cloth slash known as "pano de banda".

Reverse design: Same color scheme. It depicts the allegory "Apoteose ao triunfo" (Glorification of Triumph), celebrating victory in the struggle for liberation.

Security elements: Watermark of a portrait of A. Cabral.

Production and signatures: The note was printed by De La Rue (London, United Kingdom). It bears the signatures of Pedro A. Godinho Gomes, José Lima Barber, and Luis Candido Ribeiro.

Textual elements: The reverse includes the inscription: "The law punishes the counterfeiter".
