Brief description Obverse: Horizontal layout. Displays Mount Everest on the left side. The center features the Swayambhunath Buddhist stupa and the Harati Hindu temple. Text in Devanagari script specifies the bank name, denomination, promissory note, and the Governor's signature.

Reverse: Horizontal layout. Depicts two Asian elephant twins (named Ram and Lakshman, born in Chitwan National Park). Features the title of the Central Bank in English at the top, with the numerical and written denomination at the bottom.

Watermark: A Rhododendron flower and an electrotype denomination "1000".

Dimensions: 172 × 70 mm.

Why add to your collection: This banknote represents the highest denomination in the currency system of Nepal. This specific design updated previous issues, which incorrectly depicted a single African elephant instead of the native Asian species. The reverse illustration is based on a real photograph of famous elephant twins. Suitable for specialized topical collections: world currencies of Asia, high denominations, fauna (elephants on banknotes), religious architecture (temples and stupas), and geography.
