Brief description The visual design of this banknote reflects the cultural heritage, educational contributions, and key industrial sector of Botswana. Issued as part of the standard circulation, this 20 Pula note is produced on a paper substrate. The dimensions of the note are 138 x 69 mm. Inscriptions on the front are written in English, while the back features text in the Tswana (Setswana) language using the Latin script.

Obverse: The front features a purple and rose design over a multicolored underprint, highlighting a portrait of Dr. Kgalemang Motsete at the left center. He was a prominent educator, composer, and the author of the country's national anthem. It displays the official title of the issuing institution, "Bank of Botswana", and the denomination written out as "Twenty Pula".

Reverse: The central vignette on the back depicts industrial mining conveyors, symbolizing diamond extraction and mineral mining, which form the backbone of Botswana's economy. It includes the text "Banka ya Botswana" in the local language along with the numerical denomination.

Security Features & Substrate: Manufactured on high-quality security paper by either De La Rue or Oberthur Fiduciaire. The primary protective element embedded within the substrate is a localized watermark displaying a rearing zebra alongside an electrotype numeral "20". The protective layout is further enhanced by a security thread and microprinting.

Topical Collecting Themes: Composites and authors of national anthems (Dr. Kgalemang Motsete), heavy industry and mineral mining (conveyors, diamond mining), African fauna and wildlife (rearing zebra watermark), paper currency of Africa and Botswana.
