Brief description The visual design of this modern banknote is dedicated to the architectural heritage of the Gomel Region, the spiritual roots of Belarusian literature, and the ancient craft of woodcarving. The note was designed by artist Svetlana Nekrasova and printed by the Goznak security printing house in the Russian Federation. The dimensions of the note are 143 x 72 mm.

Obverse: The central design features the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace in the city of Homiel (Gomel) — a magnificent monument of Neoclassical architecture built between the late 18th and mid-19th centuries. All inscriptions are written in the Cyrillic script using the Belarusian language. The denomination appears on the left and below as “ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ” and numeral “20”. It also bears the issuing bank's name “НАЦЫЯНАЛЬНЫ БАНК РЭСПУБЛІКІ БЕЛАРУСЬ” and the original series design year.

Reverse: Features an intricate artistic collage dedicated to spirituality, religious culture, and education. The composition includes a large church bell, open pages of the famous Turaŭ (Turov) Gospel (one of the oldest surviving East Slavic Cyrillic manuscripts dating back to the 11th century), a depiction of the ancient town of Turaŭ, and fragments of traditional decorative woodcarving. The denomination is indicated below as “20 РУБЛЁЎ”.

Security Features & Substrate: The note is printed on a specialized high-quality paper substrate. This upgraded modification features a wide, windowed metallic security strip with the repeating text “Br 20”. Its security framework includes fine-line geometric underprints and a local watermark depicting the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace, paired with a bright electrotype “20”. This banknote belongs to the current (third) rouble series.
