Brief description The design of this banknote honors the prominent Romanian poet and philosopher Lucian Blaga, alongside the nation's prehistoric archaeological heritage and traditional rural architecture. This specific issue features the updated coat of arms with a crowned eagle, reintroduced to mark the centenary of the Union of Transylvania with Romania. The dimensions of the note are 150 x 82 mm.

Obverse: The right side displays the portrait of Lucian Blaga. The central composition features vibrant poppy flowers (Papaver rhoeas) and an open book showcasing his poems Autoportret and 9 mai 1895. The upper left corner presents the updated Coat of Arms of Romania, featuring a crown upon the eagle's head. The inscriptions in Latin script include the issuing authority “BANCA NAȚIONALĂ A ROMÂNIEI”, the face value in words “DOUĂ SUTE LEI”, and the authorized signatures of the Governor and Chief Cashier.

Reverse: The reverse is centered around The Thinker of Hamangia, a famous Neolithic terracotta sculpture, set against a stylized rainbow. To the left, an old traditional water mill is depicted, symbolizing Romanian rural history. The logo of the central bank (BNR) is positioned in the upper right and lower left corners. It also includes a standard legal warning stipulating that forgery is punishable by law.

Security Features & Substrate: The note is printed on a durable polymer substrate. Its advanced security framework includes a complex clear window containing a portrait of the poet, a see-through register, microtext, a metallic security thread, and dual-colored serial numbers (printed vertically in black on the left, and horizontally in red on the right). The first two digits of the serial number denote the specific year of issue.
