Brief description The design of this polymer 5 Dollars banknote from the "Portrait Series" reflects Singapore’s national identity and its celebrated status as a Garden City. The visual layout harmoniously balances the image of the nation's first head of state on the front with the multi-century natural heritage of the Botanical Gardens on the back.

Obverse: The primary vignette features a detailed portrait of Encik Yusof bin Ishak, the first president of the Republic of Singapore. The national coat of arms of Singapore is positioned in the top left corner. The inscriptions include the country's name in its four official languages: Malay, Chinese, Tamil, and English — «SINGAPURA / 新加坡 / சிங்கப்பூர் / SINGAPORE». The center carries the legal tender clause «THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER», the text denomination «FIVE DOLLARS», and the authority block «CHAIRMAN / MONETARY AUTHORITY OF SINGAPORE». A stylized green-themed background features a Gold-Ringed Cowrie shell.

Reverse: The reverse layout highlights the concept of Singapore as a «GARDEN CITY», a phrase printed beneath the country name «SINGAPORE». The central artwork showcases the famous, 200-year-old Tembusu tree located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. This botanical theme also subtly references the President's personal history, as he made a living trading orchids before his political career. The national coat of arms is repeated in the top right area.

Security Features & Windows: The substrate incorporates two distinct transparent polymer areas: a left window housing the coat of arms of Singapore, and a right window showing the numeral «5». A clear shadow portrait of Yusof bin Ishak serves as the integrated watermark feature.

Production Year Coding: Instead of standard numerical year inscriptions, the specific production and release periods are identified by a system of geometric symbols located on the reverse side directly below the text «GARDEN CITY».

Topical Collecting Themes: Heads of state and prominent Asian presidents, heraldry and coats of arms on currency, multilingual banknotes of the world, historic trees and world botany (Tembusu tree), botanical gardens and national reserves, "Garden City" urban concepts, conchology and sea shells in notaphily (Cowrie shell), polymer banknotes of Oceania and Asia, geometric symbol date coding, signatures of the Monetary Authority of Singapore chairmen.
