Brief description The visual design of this 50 Pounds banknote celebrates the ancient writing systems, archaeological heritage, and contemporary cultural institutions of the Syrian Arab Republic. The dimensions of the note are 135 x 65 mm.

Obverse: The central and left sections feature an illustration of cuneiform clay tablets displaying the ancient Ugaritic script discovered in the historic city of Ebla, highlighting the region's deep historical roots. All official inscriptions are written in Arabic script. The issuing entity, “مصرف سورية المركزي” (Central Bank of Syria), lines the top. The issue date is noted in both Hijri and Gregorian calendars. The face value is displayed at the bottom in numerals “٥٠” and words “خمسون ليرة سورية”.

Reverse: The reverse features the Al-Asad National Library building located in Damascus, alongside the statue of Hafez al-Assad on the left. A distinct chevron ornament is incorporated into the lower-right corner. All textual inscriptions on this side are printed in Latin script, with “CENTRAL BANK OF SYRIA 2021” at the top and “50 FIFTY SYRIAN POUNDS” at the bottom.

Security Features & Substrate: The note is printed on a traditional 100% cotton paper substrate. Its protective design features a watermark depicting an Arabian horse head paired with an electrotype “50”, a security thread, and fine-line security underprints. Unlike earlier versions, the fluorescent paint stripe was completely omitted from this specific print run.
