  • 50 Rubles, Belarus, 1992, UNC
Features
Brief description The visual design of this compact banknote from the first Belarusian rouble series features one of the most iconic masters of the European forests, harmoniously combining a wildlife theme with a deep historical and heraldic context. The layout creates a meaningful contrast between the local fauna on the front and ancient state symbolism on the back.

Obverse: The central vignette features a realistic animalistic scene depicting a brown bear. The text «ПЯЦЬДЗЕСЯТ РУБЛЁЎ» is placed near the top, with a large numerical denomination «50» centered directly above the animal.

Reverse: The center features the historical "Pahonia" coat of arms — a warrior on horseback wielding a sword and shield, which served as the official emblem of the Republic of Belarus in the early years of independence and is historically rooted in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The top area bears the standard anti-counterfeiting text: «ПАДРОБКА РАЗЛІКОВЬІХ БІЛЕТАЎ НАЦЫЯНАЛЬНАГА БАНКА БЕЛАРУСІ ПРАСЛЕДУЕЦЦА ПА ЗАКОНУ». A bold numeral «50» occupies the middle, while the lower margin displays «РАЗЛІКОВЫ БІЛЕТ НАЦЫЯНАЛЬНАГА БАНКА БЕЛАРУСІ» and the series year.

Watermark: A geometric pattern composed of interlocking "S" shapes.

Topical Collecting Themes: Fauna and wildlife on world paper money, bears in numismatics and notaphily, heraldry and historical coats of arms, the "Pahonia" emblem, horsemen and stallions on banknotes, letters-based watermarks, early transitional issues of the National Bank of Belarus (payment tickets), post-Soviet banknotes, low-denomination currency, demonetized and withdrawn banknotes.
