  • 50 Rubles, Belarus, 2000, UNC
Features
Brief description The visual design of this banknote is entirely dedicated to military history heritage and the "Brest Hero-Fortress" memorial complex. Unlike modern issues, this note belongs to the "Second Rouble" series (pre-denomination period) and has been demonetized. The dimensions of the note are 150 x 69 mm.

Obverse: The central motif showcases the famous Kholm Gate (Chołmsk Gate)—an iconic symbol of the Brest Fortress dating back to the 19th century, bearing the heavy scars of bullet and shrapnel damage. The top features the text “БІЛЕТ НАЦЫЯНАЛЬНАГА БАНКА РЭСПУБЛІКІ БЕЛАРУСЬ”. The denomination appears below as “ПЯЦЬДЗЯСЯТ РУБЛЁЎ” along with the numeral “50”, the series year, and the explanatory caption “БРЭСЦКАЯ КРЭПАСЦЬ-ГЕРОЙ ХОЛМСКІЯ ВАРОТЫ”.

Reverse: Features an artistic rendering of the Main Entrance to the "Brest Hero-Fortress" Memorial, famous for its massive, star-shaped concrete cutout architecture piercing the rampart. The denomination is indicated above, while the bottom bears the standard legal warning against currency counterfeiting.

Security Features & Substrate: The note is printed on a standard paper substrate. Its security framework consists of protective security fibers, precise background geometric underprints, and a local watermark that replicates the image of the Kholm Gate from the obverse.

Topical Collecting Themes: Military history and fortifications on currency, World War II memorials and monuments (Brest Fortress, Kholm Gate), architecture of Belarus, demonetized banknotes (Second Belarusian Rouble series), modern Belarusian numismatics.
