On September 24, 2026, the Nepal Rastra Bank put into circulation a 1000 Rupees banknote of the 2025 series. The catalog number of the new note according to Pick/Banknote News is B294. It is a variety of the B293 issue, retaining its dimensions while updating the color, individual design elements, and security features.

Obverse

The banknote is executed in a light green color scheme with a purple border. On the left is an image of Mount Everest (Sagarmatha), and on the right is a watermark featuring a rhododendron, with a watermark of the numeral "1000" underneath. Tactile markings are provided for the visually impaired: the Latin letter "M" and vertical lines. The banknote bears the signature of the central bank governor, Professor Dr. Bishwanath Poudel, and is dated 2025.

Security features

The embossed oval with the image of the goddess Bhagawati has been updated: when viewed directly it appears golden, and when tilted it turns green. A new dynamic security thread changes color from red to green.

Reverse

Depicted here are two rare twin elephant calves named Ram and Lakshman. They were born to the elephant Devkali at the state elephant breeding center in the Chitwan district. The banknote also features seven rhododendrons symbolizing the seven provinces of Nepal, and the historical Thame structure in Lhocho, Hanuman Dhoka area. New azalea flowers have appeared around the watermark, and a new column has been added on the right side of the reverse.

The serial numbers of the new series begin at 92000001. The previous 2019 series entered circulation on July 22, 2020, and its issued numbers reached 91440000. The new banknote will circulate alongside existing 1000 Rupees banknotes.
